Project Accountant at Shiel Sexton

The Project Accountant position with Shiel Sexton is a mid-level accounting position which requires proficiency in project/cost accounting, a high level of detail, accuracy, and timeliness with strong organizational, multitasking, and prioritizing abilities. The successful candidate will have experience in processing monthly project billings as well as strong accounts payable experience.

Additional responsibilities include:

• Preparation of project billings in accordance with contract terms using ERP accounting system and in AIA G702/G703 format
• Preparation of supplemental schedules for project billings (Sworn Statements, Schedule of Values, Lien Waivers)
• Processing and reviewing project payables and reviewing subcontractor billing documents for completeness.
• Job cost review and adjustments
• Project close procedures
• End-to-end project support partnering with the Project Operations Team
• Mentoring and training other team members in the accounting department
• Using independent judgement and discretion to identify problems and making recommendations for solutions

Skills/Qualifications:

• Degree in Accounting or similar preferred
• One (1) to three (3) years of experience in Project/Cost Accounting with a thorough understanding of project/cost accounting principles, practices, and methods
• Strong experience in ERP Accounting System (Vista Viewpoint preferred)
• Understanding of various contract types of Project billings (Lump Sum, T&M, GMP)
• Knowledge of subcontract commitments and purchase orders
• Understanding of retainage principles
• Ability to read and understand billing requirements
• Understanding of stored material lifecycle in project billings
